Xuezhu Wang is a Ph.D. student in the School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, advised by Qiuyu (Luca) Lu. Her research interests include smart material interfaces, participatory design, and design tools. She is interested in exploring how emerging materials and interactive technologies can support more tangible, expressive, and collaborative forms of design. Before joining the group, she received her M.A. in Information Art Design from Tsinghua University and her B.A. in Product Interaction Design from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Her previous work spans smart textile interfaces, interactive embroidery, co-design toolkits, and AI-assisted creative tools. Her projects and publications have been recognized in conferences and awards including CHI, SIGGRAPH Asia, and the Red Dot Design Concept Award.Her current research focuses on AI-assisted design support for Smart Material Interfaces, investigating how designers can better understand, explore, and appropriate dynamic material behaviors during early-stage creative processes.
