Dr. Lu’s research explores new forms of intelligence emerging from interactions among humans, nature, and machines. By designing with responsive materials, evolving structures, and environmental processes, his work investigates how intelligence can extend beyond computation toward more adaptive and sustainable technologies.
He holds a Ph.D. in Design and a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University, and has conducted research at MIT Media Lab, UC Berkeley, and Carnegie Mellon University. His work has been published in leading HCI venues and exhibited internationally, including Ars Electronica and the Milan Triennale.
