Zhiwei Tuo is a postdoctoral fellow in the research group of Professor Qiuyu (Luca) Lu at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is interested in bioinspired structural design, soft robot, and additive manufacturing (3D/4D printing), with a focus on developing soft robots and intelligent functional structures that adapt to environmental stimuli. He believes that additive manufacturing technologies can provide fabrication methods for complex bioinspired structures, ultimately transforming elegant designs from blueprints into physical reality. Before joining PolyU, he earned his Ph.D. in Engineering Bionics from Jilin University (2024), and his B.E. in Agricultural Mechanization and Automation from Hainan University (2019). He previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, where he led a National Funded Postdoctoral Researchers Program on 4Dprinted intelligent structures. He has published firstauthor papers in Advanced Functional Materials, Small, Acta Biomaterialia, and other leading journals, and holds multiple patents on bioinspired composites and variablestiffness soft robots.
